| Abstract:Tomato brown rugose fruit virus(Tobamovirus fructirugosum, ToBRFV) is an emerging and rapidly spreading RNA virus that infects solanaceous crops such as tomato and pepper, with tomato as the primary host. The virus causes severe yield losses and poses a significant threat to global tomato production. ToBRFV was first identified in greenhouse-grown tomato plants in Jordan in the spring of 2015, while its first outbreak can be traced back to Israel in 2014. To date, this virus has been reported in at least 35 countries across four continents worldwide. This review systematically summarizes and discusses the latest research progress and future development trends in key areas related to ToBRFV, including its biological characteristics, pathogenic mechanisms, detection methods, resistance mechanisms, breeding strategies, and host responses. It aims to provide theoretical reference for the accurate detection and long-term effective control of ToBRFV. |
